The 8th ECDDay – 8th English, Culture and Diversity Day is an annual event aimed at linguistic and cultural practice for the ILEEL, UFU and external community, revolving around the discussion of contemporary issues of extreme interest to the external young audience and university, contributing to the dissemination of information relevant to the consolidation of the internationalization of higher education.

For this year, the theme is “Culture and Diversity in a World of Dis/Misinformation”, which encompasses the debate on the concept of freedom, permeated by ideological issues, passing through numerous issues, namely Politics, Society, Economy and Law. The event is intended to create a space for discussion in which the public outside UFU and the academic community can exchange ideas about the concept of freedom, dissemination of (mis)information and its implications in contemporary times.

To this end, the event will feature lectures by university professors and scholars, with debate panels and round-table discussions, having participants able to ask questions and expose their experiences. As the event will be entirely mediated in English, it will also be a way to contribute to the development of the discursive competence of the participants in that language, thus impacting the training of pre-service teachers of the Language Course: English and English Language Degrees and the participants (internal and external community) in general.
